Tuesday 31st January
31stJan2012
Top Dancer is having his first run for us tomorrow at Leicester in a novice hurdle. Ussee ran a very encouraging race at Doncaster on Saturday to finish 5th, first time out, in the bumper. Tempest River ran a good race at Leicester to finish 2nd to Baby Shine. We were just unable to give the weight away to Baby Shine in ground not suited to us, nonetheless she has run a cracking race.
Winner!
22ndJan2012
Mark The Book, given a chance by the handicapper, and around what appears to be his favourite course, jumped very well out in front to win at Chepstow on Friday. A great result, obviously improving from his first run at Haydock having been off the track for nearly 2 years. Tempest River and Rush Cad run at Leicester on Tuesday, Dance Island and Rainbow Dancer go to Warwick on Thursday and Brass Tax and Ussee should run at Doncaster on Saturday.
Winner!
20thJan2012
I was delighted Ginger Fizz won on Wednesday at Southwell. I am really pleased for her owner, Verity Bourne, who has been a great supporter of ours for many years. She bred Ginger Fizz at her Itchen Valley Stud so it is great to get that all important win in the pedigree for the future. She may now run at Sandown in a Listed bumper before having a break and possibly running on the flat. Edgefour and Mark The Book run at Chepstow today and both have chances.
Monday 16th January
16thJan2012
Ginger Fizz and Game Hall should go to Southwell on Wednesday, subject to the weather! Thoresby goes to Ludlow on Thursday. Mark The Book and Edgefour to Chepstow on Friday. Rush Cad was due to run at Wetherby on Saturday, he made it as far as Rotherham before having to turn around and come home. He will now go to Leicester on Tuesday along with Tempest River.
Happy New Year
03rdJan2012
Tribal Dance runs at Huntingdon on Wednesday and is in good form. Water Rose runs at Southwell. I was pleased with Thoresbys run at Market Rasen on Boxing Day where he finished 2nd and it looks like he will stay further. Wishing you all a Happy New Year.
Winner!
23rdDec2011
I was delighted with Tempest Rivers win yesterday at Hereford, she won well and is progressing in the right direction. We will have several runners on Boxing Day, of which I think Thoresby, with the first-time visor, has a good each-way chance. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Wednesday 21st December
21stDec2011
Tempest River goes to Hereford tomorrow, she is in good form and should run well. Mark The Book ran a good race up at Haydock in the Tommy Whittle, before getting a little tired two from home, a good effort after 622 days on the sidelines, he has come out of his race ok, the handicapper has dropped him another 7lbs and could be one to follow next time out. Thoresby, Tribal Dance, Game Hall and Ginger Fizz all have entries on Boxing Day and Dance Island has an entry at Chepstow, over hurdles, on the 27th and will also have an entry at Warwick on New Years Eve.
Sunday 11th December
11thDec2011
Brass Tax ran a great race yesterday at Cheltenham to finish 4th, in a good 3 mile novice hurdle, he looks to be a lovely prospect and anything he does over hurdles will be a bonus. Water Rose improved a little on her second run at Leicester and hopefully she will continue to go in the right direction. Edgefour ran her usual game race to finish 3rd up at Doncaster and she continues to run well. Tribal Dance runs at Fakenham tomorrow and is in good form. Phare Isle goes to Ascot on Friday and Mark The Book should run at Haydock on Saturday.
Thursday 1st December
01stDec2011
Edgefour ran a good race again yesterday to finish 2nd at Uttoxeter. Last week Phare Isle, Ginger Fizz, Tempest River and Thoresby all finished in the frame, although I was a little disappointed with Tempest River who ran a little flat. Next week we have Water Rose in at Leicester and possbily Brass Tax at Cheltenham.
Monday 21st November
21stNov2011
Phare Isle runs today at Kempton and has a good each-way chance. Ginger Fizz goes to Wetherby on Wednesday and Tempest River and Newport Rose run on Thursday at Newbury and Uttoxeter. Thoresby has entries for later in the week. I was delighted with Brass Taxs run at Ascot, he ran well to finish 2nd on his first run for me, beaten by what looks to be a very nice horse of Nicky Hendersons, Brass Tax should be able to build on this and looks to be a nice prospect.
Winner!
14thNov2011
Tribal Dance backed up his performance at Huntingdon on Tuesday with a gritty success at Fontwell yesterday, given a good ride by Gerald Quinn, claiming 7lbs. He will find life much tougher now as he is due to go up 15lbs in the handicap next week! He will now have a short break and I will look to find another race for him in a month or so. Edgefour goes to Folkestone tomorrow and Brass Tax, Newport Rose and Water Rose all have entries for this week. The horses all seem to be running well at the moment with 3 of our last 5 runners all winning - long may it continue!
Winner!
11thNov2011
Tribal Dance won nicely at Huntingdon on Tuesday with first time visor, he runs again on Sunday at Fontwell and hopefully he can follow up his Huntingdon win. Dance Island was very disappointing at Bangor on Wednesday and pulled up, he was a little sore behind so it will be back to the drawing board with him and probably a return over hurdles after he has had a full MOT. I have had a very good week in Ireland and have come away with 4 smashing foals which will return to the sales as 3 year-olds. Edgefour, Brass Tax, My Nosy Rosey, Ginger Fizz and Water Rose all have entries next week and I look forward to them running.
Winner!
01stNov2011
Handtheprizeover won nicely yesterday at Kempton, he had an easy lead up front and jumped very well and stayed on strongly to win by 3 1/2 lengths. This was his third win over fences and he continues to improve. Thoresby was a little disappointing at Ascot on Saturday, although I dont think the race was run to suit him, he is fine and will have his day in the near future. Newport Rose runs tomorrow at Chepstow, her first run over hurdles and she will be better off when she goes handicapping and Phare Isle will run at Sandown on Saturday.
Friday 21st October
21stOct2011
Looking forward to this weekend with two runners on Sunday. Tribal Dance goes to Wincanton, having his first run in a handicap hurdle and he looks to have an each-way chance. Tempest River goes to Aintree for her first run over hurdles and I hope she puts up a good performance as this will dictate where we go with her for the rest of the season. Orangeaday ran very well at Cheltenham last Saturday, finishing 5th in the bumper and Edgefour and Ginger Fizz were both 2nd in their respective races on Wednesday with Phare Isle being the only slight disappointment, he fell two from home at Worcester, thankfully he is fine and I will look to find a race on a right-handed track for him next time.
Open Day
14thOct2011
We had a fantastic open day on Sunday with 180 people here to watch the horses parade followed by lunch. Thanks to the team, family and friends for all their hard work which made the day a great success. The weather was kind to us and we paraded 27 horses in the indoor school, who all behaved impeccably. We have had lots of positive feedback and we are delighted with how the day went. Our first runner of the winter season was not so successful as Phare Isle unseated his jockey at the 2nd fence! We were very pleased with Thoresby\\\'s run at Uttoxeter to finish 4th and he is sure to come on for the run. Orangeaday runs at Cheltenham on Saturday and should have an each-way chance. I also purchased a lovely Medicean colt on Wednesday at Tattersalls Book 2 for an existing owner and he has gone straight to Tom Lacey to be broken-in.
Monday 3rd October
03rdOct2011
Tribal Dance, Edgefour and Ginger Fizz all have entries at Towcester on Wednesday 5th October. Dominic Elsworth and Charlie Poste were in this morning to school quite a few horses in the indoor school and that all went well. We are looking forward to our Open Day on Sunday 9th October and hoping the weather continues but it is looking doubtful - anyway we could do with some rain so we can start having some runners!
13th September 2011
13thSep2011
Ginger Fizz and the 3 year-old gelding by Old Vic out of Noisetine arrived back from Tom Laceys yesterday, looking very well. The rest of the horses are now all in full work and I would hope to have our first runners of the winter campaign at the beginning of October.
Thursday 18th August
18thAug2011
Another Storm is due to run at Market Rasen on Saturday evening, she is in good form and should have a good each-way chance. I purchased a lovely 3 year old gelding by Court Cave out of No More Trouble at the recent August sales at Fairyhouse, he is for sale and we will see how he progresses. If he is forward enough he may go to the Breeze up sales in December, ideally I would like to find an owner(s) for him to stay in the yard.
Friday 22nd July
22ndJul2011
Summer Affair runs at Chepstow this evening and looks to have a good each-way chance back over 2 miles which is sure to suit him. Topenhall ran another good race at Uttoxeter yesterday to finish 3rd, he could just do with a little break from the handicapper (despite comments made by Iain Mackenzie in the Racing Post who always seems to write derogatory comments about most horses and jockeys). Topenhall has run consistently well for us since arriving from Ireland and has given his owners lots of fun.
Monday 18th July
18thJul2011
Topenhall ran another respectable race yesterday at Stratford, finishing 4th. He should be able to pick up a race similar to this during the summer. Summer Affair may run at Chepstow on Friday night, subject to the ground not being too quick. Four more horses came back into work today, including Dance Island, who all look well after their summer break.
27th June 2011
27thJun2011
Edgefour and Summer Affair have both come out of their races well, with Summer Affair putting up a very encouraging run to finish 4th having not run for over 500 days. Topenhall will hopefully run at Market Rasen on Sunday in a beginners chase and Edgefour and Another Storm will go to Uttoxeter on Tuesday 5th July. I have bought a lovely Old Vic gelding at the Derby Sale for an existing owner and hopefully he will do well. The two store horses that were sold for Lady Jane Grosvenor at the Derby Sale both showed profit, the Westerner going into training with Nicky Henderson and the Robin des Champs to Willie Mullins. Our Open Day will be held on Sunday 9th October, if anyone is interested in attending please contact me for further details.
Tuesday 14th June
14thJun2011
Edgefour and Summer Affair run tomorrow, Edgefour runs at Worcester and is in good form and I expect her to run well. Summer Affair goes to Kempton for his first run after a lay-off and I am sure he will improve for the run. Tribal Dance and Mark The Book have come back into training following their summer breaks, Tribal Dance should be ready to run in the Autumn and Mark The Book will be aimed at staying chases this winter.
Friday 27th May
27thMay2011
A successful week at Doncaster sales where we sold a Shirocco/Aristocratique 3 year old through Goldford Stud, which I had purchased as a foal for Lady Jane Grosvenor, he topped the store sale which was very pleasing. He will be trained in Ireland by Willie Mullins. I also purchased a smashing filly who is a half-sister to Montbazon, for an existing owner, she looks to be a lovely prospect to run this coming season. A half-brother to Deep Reflection came in last week and is currently being broken-in.
Saturday 7th May
07thMay2011
Water Rose is due to run at Uttoxeter tomorrow, hopefully she will have learnt a lot from her first run at Towcester and I\'m hoping for a better performance from her this time. Next week Edgefour should go to Aintree on Friday night and Applause For Amy and Newport Rose may run at Bangor on Saturday.
Saturday 23rd April
23rdApr2011
Orangeaday runs at Fairyhouse on Tuesday evening in the Tattersalls sales bumper, he has been in good form at home and we are looking forward to him running. Topenhall ran well at Hereford on his return from his winter break to finish 3rd, he should come on a bit for the run and hopefully will pay his way through the summer. Edgefour ran well on her return to finish 5th at Stratford last Sunday and Tribal Dance had his third run and now qualifies for a handicap mark. Handtheprizeover and Newport Rose are both entered to run on Monday but unless we get some rain they will have to wait for another day!
Tuesday 12th April
12thApr2011
Phare Isle and Present Your Case both run tomorrow, Phare Isle at Cheltenham and Present Your Case at Southwell, both races look competitive but I think both horses have good each-way chances. Would like to say thank you to everybody who has congratulated us on our Aintree winner, Tempest River, we have been overwhelmed by the support. She has come out of the race well and lots to look forward to for next season. We are thinking of Peter Toole who is in hospital following a fall at Aintree, he has ridden two winners for us this season and we wish him a speedy recovery, our thoughts are with his family.
Aintree Winner
09thApr2011
Tempest River was a fantastic winner for us yesterday at Aintree in the Mares Listed Bumper, a great day for all connections and everyone here at Wardington Gate Farm, it means so much for us to win a race on the big stage and also for Tempest River to gain the all important Black Type. Everdon Brook is becoming a little frustrating as he seemed to be travelling as well as anything until 3 out and once under pressure found little, although a better effort than last time he was still disappointing. Thoresby goes to Ludlow tomorrow and has a good each-way chance.
Wednesday 6th April
06thApr2011
Everdon Brook runs at Hereford tomorrow with a first-time visor and tongue-tie, I am hoping this will help him. Tempest River is in good form and she will run in the mares Listed bumper at Aintree on Friday and Thoresby goes to Ludlow on Sunday. Orangeaday ran a fantastic race in the bumper at Ludlow last week to finish 3rd first time out and looks to be a very nice prospect.
Wednesday 30th March
30thMar2011
Tribal Dance ran a creditable race at Southwell last Wednesday to finish 6th, he will have learnt a lot and continues to progress. Ginger Fizz ran very well on her debut in the bumper at Newbury on Saturday to finish 4th, an encouraging effort first time out and hopefully she can progress from this. Shannons Firth and Orangeaday both run at Ludlow tomorrow, both with each-way chances.
Monday 21st March
21stMar2011
Tempest River ran a fantastic race at Sandown 10 days ago to finish 4th in the mares Listed bumper and we look to have a nice prospect on our hands. She may possibly run at Aintree. Everdon Brook was disappointing although his jumping was a lot better he cut out very quickly 3 from home without any obvious excuses, but we will see if we can come up with some answers as to why he is performing below par. Phare Isle was in the process of running a good race first time over fences at Fakenham on Friday and was going well when unseating his rider 4 out, Thoresby was also running a good race but made a mistake 3 out and ran on well to finish 6th. Dance Island ran a respectable race at Cheltenham in the Kim Muir but I feel I havent quite got him in the same form he was in this time last year, hopefully the warmer weather will help him. Entries this week Shannons Firth at Chepstow, Tribal Dance at Southwell and Ginger Fizz at Newbury
Wednesday 9th March
09thMar2011
Tempest River and Everdon Brook should both run at the weekend, Tempest River in the Listed Mares bumper at Sandown and Everdon Brook in a handicap hurdle at Chepstow. Both are in good form and should run well. Tribal Dance ran well to finish 5th at Bangor last week in his first run over hurdles. Handtheprizeover ran another good race to finish 3rd in a competitive chase at Newbury last Friday and Newport Rose made an encouraging debut at Huntingdon to finish 4th in the bumper.
Monday 28th February
28thFeb2011
Phare Isle ran a good race to finish 5th at Doncaster, unfortunately the weather turned against us and he didnt enjoy the heavy ground, he will now wait for some better ground before running again. Tribal Dance, Newport Rose and Handtheprizeover all have entries this week.
Winner
19thFeb2011
Handtheprizeover was given a great ride by Peter Toole to get up and win by a head at Leicester on Wednesday and has come out of the race well. He has had a fine season so far, with two wins, two 2nds and a 4th. Dance Island ran a creditable race at Newbury in the AON Chase against horses rated far superior to him, and his run was better than the bare result suggests, he just got a little tired after the second last and Daryl let him come home in his own time. It was a nice prep race for the Kim Muir at Cheltenham. Phare Isle and Ginger Fizz both have entries at Doncaster on Wednesday and Tribal Dance is entered to run at either Sandown or Warwick on Friday.
Tuesday 15th February
15thFeb2011
Handtheprizeover goes to Leicester tomorrow with a good each-way chance and Dance Island is most likely to run at the re-scheduled Newbury meeting on Friday. He also has entries at Ascot and Haydock. Everdon Brook was a little frustrating to watch at Market Rasen last week, as he is a horse that is well capable of winning races but at the moment he is struggling in the jumping department, we will continue to work on this and will not give up on him just yet. Tempest River ran a fantastic race at Huntingdon, for her new connections, the Fly Like The Wind Partnership, finishing 3rd in a very competitive mare\'s bumper and she will now have a crack at the Listed bumper at Sandown on March 12th.
Monday 31st January
31stJan2011
Handtheprizeover ran a respectable race in desperate ground at Uttoxeter on Saturday, he has come out of the race fine and I am sure he will continue to give a good account of himself over fences. No runners this week but I hope to run Everdon Brook, Tempest River and Dance Island next week.
Monday 10th January
10thJan2011
Thoresby ran a respectable race at Huntingdon to finish mid-division, he now qualifies for handicaps, he will have a short break before running again in the spring. Dance Island was running well in the Welsh National on Saturday, before making a jolting mistake five from home, after this the leaders had flown and he was unable to get back into the race and his jockey sensibly pulled him up. Present Your Case may run at Huntingdon on Friday and Parlesotho and Phare Isle are both entered at Wetherby and Warwick on Saturday.
Good Start To The New Year
04thJan2011
Phare Isle winning well at Fakenham on Saturday was a good start to the New Year, I am absolutely delighted for his owners as they have been supporters of mine since I first started training and its always good to have a winner at Fakenham. On New Years Eve Everdon Brook ran well enough on his third start over hurdles at Uttoxeter, he should be better off now that he can run in handicaps, also a bright start for Tempest River who finished 3rd in the bumper at Warwick, hopefully she will be up to winning a mare\'s bumper and looks to have a good future in front of her. Thoresby may possibly run at Huntingdon on Thursday and Dance Island is in good form and I am looking forward to running him on Saturday in the Welsh National.
Christmas Eve
24thDec2010
A bit of unwanted drama yesterday afternoon when an adjacent straw filled barn caught fire forcing us to evacuate all the horses and staff from Wardington Gate Farm. Luckily all horses and people are ok having spent a night in temporary accommodation. The fire service have been amazing and are still with us today! All being well we should have the horses back in the yard tomorrow. Parlesotho is due to run at Kempton on Monday, weather permitting, and after that plans for the other horses are in the lap of the gods. The Welsh National has been posponed until Saturday 8th January and Dance Island is still on course to take his place. Last week Present Your Case found the trip a little on the short side at Bangor, but ran well to finish 4th, also at Towcester Everdon Brook ran a nice race to finish 6th and Handtheprizeover continues to run well and ran a brave race to finish 2nd.\r\nHappy Christmas!
Monday 13th December
13thDec2010
Thoresby ran a fine race to finish 3rd at Cheltenham on Friday on only his second start over hurdles, hes still only a four-year-old and can only improve. Handtheprizeover is in at Bangor and Towcester, Present Your Case is likely to run at Bangor on Wednesday and Everdon Brook will probably go to Towcester on Thursday, he is also in at Ascot on Friday. Phare Isle should go to Ascot on Saturday.
Thursday 9th December
09thDec2010
Thoresby is due to run at Cheltenham tomorrow, he is in good form and I am sure he will continue to progress in the right direction. Present Your Case may run at Fakenham on Sunday, weather permitting, she is also in at Bangor on Wednesday 15th along with Handtheprizeover. Everdon Brook will be entered for Towcester and Ascot and Phare Isle will hopefully run at Ascot on the 18th December. Dance Island is entered in the Welsh National and also the Paddy Power at Leopardstown, he is doing well and no decision has been made yet as to where he will run, we will be keeping a close eye on the weather and will leave options open until the last minute.
Winner
22ndNov2010
Dance Island ran a fantastic race at Haydock on Saturday to finish 2nd in the £30,000 handicap steeple chase, his first try in handicap company over fences, the winner looks like a well-handicapped horse. We will make entries this week for him in the Welsh National and the Paddy Power Steeple Chase at Leopardstown on the 27th December. Handtheprizeover thankfully ended our run of seconditis by winning well at Towcester yesterday, he may have to run back next week. Parlesotho runs today at Kempton in the Mares\' Listed Hurdle, a very competitive race but hopefully we can pick up some prize money.
Friday 19th November
19thNov2010
Dance Island goes to Haydock tomorrow, he has come on a lot for his run over hurdles at Aintree a few weeks ago and I hope that he will run well in his first time in a handicap chase. Handtheprizeover goes to Towcester on Sunday and looks to have a good chance if he can build on his 2nd at Huntingdon. Present Your Case ran well at Leicester on Monday to finish 2nd, the first two 25 lengths clear of the 3rd horse. Thoresby made an encouraging debut over hurdles at Warwick on Wednesday to finish 5th. Parlesotho will run at Kempton on Monday in the mares Listed race and Topenhall will run on the all-weather at Lingfield on Wednesday.
Saturday 13th November
13thNov2010
Phare Isle ran a good race yesterday to finish 6th at Cheltenham and may have possibly finished closer had the jockeys stirrup leather not broken four from home! As we thought he had obviously come on a lot for his run at Aintree, which bodes well for Dance Island who is due to go to Haydock next weekend. Present Your Case should run at Leicester on Monday and Thoresby at either Warwick or Ascot. Parlesotho will go to Ascot on Saturday if not Kempton on Monday. Great to see Time For Rupert winning over fences at Cheltenham looking destined for the RSA Chase in March, a graduate of mine from the breeze-up sales. I have been away in Ireland all week at the foal sales trying to find a few more Time For Ruperts! Managed to purchase four smashing foals for Lady Jane Grosvenor, two Kayf Taras and two Presentings all with fantastic pedigrees, these will be re-offered for sale in 3 years time.
Tuesday 2nd November
02ndNov2010
Everdon Brook made his debut over hurdles at Stratford on Thursday and although his jumping needs to improve a lot he travelled well into the race and was going as well as anybody before making a mistake 3 out which put paid to any chance he had. We will give him a little time and plenty of loose schooling before his next run. Edgefour ran a respectable race in the Listed mares hurdle at Wetherby on Saturday and ran right up to her rating, and picked up some prize money. She will now have a holiday having run well throughout the summer and come back into training in January. Handtheprizeover was 2nd on his chase debut at Huntingdon on Sunday. a very encouraging start to the season for him and hopefully it will not be too long before he lives up to his name! On the bloodstock side I was delighted to see Muldoons Picnic win first time over hurdles at Huntingdon on Sunday, a horse I purchased and sold through the Cheltenham breeze-up sale, always good to see these horses do well so clients will come back for more!
Monday 25th October
25thOct2010
A busy weekend with all the horses running well. Topenhall running another consistent race to finish 3rd at Stratford. Phare Isle having his first run of the season at Aintree and travelled well throughout the race before getting tired in the rain softened ground, he will improve a lot for the run. Parlesotho running an excellent race to finish 4th on her first step-up to 3 miles in a competitive handicap hurdle at Aintree on Sunday. Dance Island an encouraging first run for the season in Parlesotho\'s race, just getting a little tired late on, he will revert to fences for this next run. Everdon Brook may run at the end of the week, he has entries at Stratford, Uttoxeter and Huntingdon. Edgefour will have an entry at Wetherby and Handtheprizeover at Huntingdon. An early start this morning as we worked two at Towcester, along with plenty of other local trainers, Thoresby and a 4 year-old Old Vic filly both working well.
Friday 8th October
08thOct2010
We had a very successful owners open day on Sunday 3rd October with 170 people here to watch the parade of horses in the indoor school, which managed to keep everyone dry, followed by an excellent lunch in the barn. The horses continue to run well with Tribal Dance putting in another solid performance to finish 5th in the bumper at Ludlow, he will now have a short break before going novice hurdling. Once he has strengthened up he is going to be a nice horse for the future and one to follow. Edgefour continues to run well and is a slight victim of her own consistency as the handicapper wont allow her to be dropped to a favourable mark - she was 3rd yesterday at Worcester in a competitive mares handicap hurdle and she may have one more run before having her annual winter holiday. Present Your Case should run at Uttoxeter on Wednesday and Dance Island and Phare Isle will have entries at Cheltenham next weekend.
Monday 27th September
27thSep2010
Topenhall ran another game race at Market Rasen on Saturday to finish 3rd, only beaten a length, he has proved to be a real star for us during the summer. No runners this week, just our Open Day coming up this Sunday and we are keeping busy preparing for that. Edgefour, Parlesotho, Tribal Dance and Present Your Case will all have entries to run the following week. Lets hope for some nice weather on Sunday !
Thursday 9th September
09thSep2010
Tribal Dance ran a pleasing first race at Uttoxeter yesterday in the bumper, only just being beaten for 3rd place. He is still quite a weak horse and should keep improving. All the winter horses are back in now and we are looking forward to showing them all at our Open Day on October 3rd, any interested parties who would like an invitation, please give me a call.
Tuesday 7th September
07thSep2010
Edgefour ran a game race to finish 2nd at Worcester on Sunday, to beaten only 3/4 of a length. She continues to run well and it would be nice to pick up a race with her before the summer is out. Topenhall ran a creditable race to finish 6th in a competitive handicap hurdle at Stratford on Saturday, in a race that wasnt really run to suit to him. Tribal Dance makes his racecourse debut tomorrow at Uttoxeter and I hope that he is good enough to run a respectable race.
Friday 3rd September
03rdSep2010
Topenhall runs tomorrow at Stratford, it is a step up in class from his last race but we are hopeful of good run and he should have an each-way chance. Edgefour goes to Worcester on Sunday, she has stepped down in class, but has been working well at home and should also have a good chance. Tribal Dance has been entered at Uttoxeter on Wednesday to make his racecouse debut in the bumper.
Topenhall wins!
24thAug2010
A great win by Topenhall at Market Rasen on Saturday evening under Charlie Poste. Topenhall joined us in April from Ireland, he has had his problems but is a lovely horse and had been 2nd on his last two starts so really deserved the win. Parlesotho runs at Bangor tomorrow in the 6.00pm it looks a competitive race but she is very well and should have an each-way chance. Bonnie Bea has been declared at Lingfield on Thursday.
Thursday 19th August
19thAug2010
Silver Sonnet runs today at Stratford and would have a little each-way chance if the first time blinkers work and the rain stays away! Topenhall goes to Market Rasen on Saturday night and he is in good form. Bonnie Bea should run at Lingfield or Bath next weekend. Parlesotho has entries at Bangor next Wednesday. All the winter horses are now cantering and looking well and we look forward to the coming months.
Monday 2nd August
02ndAug2010
Topenhall ran another good race at Market Rasen yesterday to finish 2nd, not beaten very far, he may return there in 3 weeks time. Edgefour was a little disappointing but the race may have come just a little too soon for her and she will now have a short break. Bonnie Bea runs at Chepstow tomorrow, Parlesotho and Ravine Rose are entered to run at Worcester, Parlesotho will only run if the ground is not too quick.
Thursday 22nd July
22ndJul2010
Topenhall ran a great race yesterday to finish 2nd at Worcester on only his second start for me after having a year off. Rather annoying to be beaten by Deep Reflection who I used to train but he has dropped 20lbs since last running for me! We look forward to having some fun with Topenhall over the coming months. Ravine Rose ran a better race but was - as quoted by her jockey - \"that was not one of my best rides\"! We will continue to run her while she is fit and well. Edgefour goes to Uttoxeter today and if the visor has the same effect as last time she should run well.
Monday 12th July
12thJul2010
A much improved run from Edgefour yesterday at Stratford finishing 2nd beaten only a neck, the first-time visor obviously doing the trick! Lets hope they continue to work their magic when she runs next time. Silver Sonnet is progressing and put in a better effort at Worcester last week to finish 4th, her jumping still needs to improve and it is possible she could run again at Worcester on Wednesday, along with Ravine Rose. Most of the horses are now back in from their summer holiday and we look forward to them running this winter. Our annual owners open day will be held on Sunday 3rd October, anyone interested in attending please get in touch and I will forward an invitation.
Sunday 27th June
27thJun2010
I have spent the last few days in Ireland at the Derby sale and we had a fantastic result with the Westerner/Rose of Inchiquin 3 year-old that I had purchased as a foal for Lady Jane Grosvenor, he topped the sale and set a record for a gelding sold at the Derby sale by making an amazing 325,000 euros. He was beautifully turned out by Goldford Stud. I also purchased two lovely 3 year-olds, one by Kayf Tara and the other by Presenting. Lets hope they are good enough to head back to Ireland in the Spring for the Derby Sale 100,000 euro Bumper! Topenhall ran a good race at Worcester last Wednesday on his first run for us having been off the racecourse for nearly a year and just tired going into the second last and was only beaten just over 16 lengths, he should improve a lot for the run and we hope he gives his owners some fun during the summer.
Tuesday 22nd June
22ndJun2010
Topenhall makes his debut for us tomorrow at Worcester. He has been going well at home and he should give a good account of himself. I am off to Ireland to the Derby sale and it will be interesting to see what the prices are like in this current market.
Thursday 10th June
10thJun2010
Ravine Rose is entered at Worcester on Wednesday 16th June. Silver Sonnet and Edgefour were both disappointing at Southwell on Tuesday evening. Silver Sonnet is still very green and needs more experience. Edgefour putting in a very lacklustre performance and I am still looking for a reason why. She will undergo various tests and see if we can come up with an answer.
Saturday 29th May
29thMay2010
We had a great result at the Doncaster Store Horse Sales on Thursday, with the Old Vic I purchased as a foal for Lady Jane Grosvenor (Dance Islands owner) topping the sale at £100,000 which was fantastic in this current climate. He is going to Nicky Henderson and I look forward to seeing him on the racecourse. Richard and Sally Aston of Goldford Stud had once again produced him beautifully for the sale. Watch The Master and Silver Sonnet make their hurdling debut at Uttoxeter tomorrow, both horses are fit and well and should give a good account of themselves. Edgefour was very disappointing at Fakenham last Sunday, nothing seems to have come to light as an excuse and I am sure she will bounce back to her usual self next time.
Thursday 13th May
13thMay2010
Present Your Case will either run at Bangor or Uttoxeter on Saturday and is in good form. Phare Isle ran well at Worcester on Sunday to finish 2nd, in his last three runs he has been very consistent and although it is very tempting to run him again he is only a 5 year-old and has had quite a bit of racing this season so he will now have a summer break along with Thoresby, who ran another encouraging race to finish 4th in the bumper at Worcester on Sunday, he is one to look forward to for next season. Edgefour had her first run on the flat at Warwick for this season and that will have blown the cobwebs away, she will run at Fakenham in a beginners chase on the 23rd May. Ravine Rose has an entry at Stratford on Sunday and Towcester on Tuesday.
Winner!
05thMay2010
Bring on the girls!! Another Storm finished her season out in style by winning at Fakenham yesterday. Always good to have a winner back in Norfolk where lots of family and friends were there to help celebrate. It is great for her breeders David and Vicky Wales who were also on hand to see her win. She has now stayed in Norfolk for a short break. Bibiana Bay ran a respectable race at Windsor on Monday and was only found out by the change of ground, although she is no world beater she will be more than capable of holding her own on fast ground during the summer. Edgefour, Thoresby, Handtheprizeover and Phare Isle all have entries over the weekend.
Friday 30th April
30thApr2010
Parlesotho ran a good race at Ludlow last Sunday to finish 4th, although the race possibly came a little soon after her Stratford win we had little choice but to run her as the handicapper had put her up 12lbs for her win. She will now have a short break before running in June. Phare Isle was 3rd last night at Huntingdon, again running a good race on his first try over 3 miles. He may have one more run before going on holiday. Bibiana Bay has an entry at Windsor on Monday and Another Storm has an entry at Fakenham on Tuesday.
Saturday 24th April
24thApr2010
Estrica goes to Market Rasen today with a little each-way chance, with first time blinkers. Parlesotho runs at Ludlow tomorrow and we hope for another good run from her. It was great to see Muldoons Picnic win the bumper at Uttoxeter for Kim Bailey as I purchased this horse at the Derby sale last year and prepared him for the Cheltenham breeze-up sale where he was sold in December. Phare Isle has an entry at Huntingdon on Thursday evening.
Thursday 22nd April
22ndApr2010
Another Storm ran a good race at Plumpton on Monday to finish 3rd, only beaten 2 lengths and continues to give the Case Racing Partnership lots of fun. Everdon Brook was a little disappointing at Kempton on Monday evening, but plenty of excuses for him, the main one being he got into a barging match early on and just ran too free for his own good, he will now have a holiday and come back to go hurdling next season, he shows plenty of ability at home and I am sure patience will be rewarded. Handtheprizeover and Present Your Case both ran well at Southwell yesterday. Handtheprizeover finishing 5th in his first try over 3 miles and is slowly improving. Present Your Case ran a good race to finish 3rd, just tiring after the 2nd last hurdle on her first run back since her wind op. Parlesotho is more than likely to go to Ludlow on Sunday. The last few runners form reads well 2,2,2,1,6,3,0,5,3 not bad for a small yard!
Monday 19th April
19thApr2010
We had a welcome winner at Stratford yesterday. Parlesotho having her first run for us has clearly regained her form that she showed last season for Alan King. She won by 10 lenghts under Charle Poste, no doubt the handicapper will have his say and she may well run again at the weekend. Everdon Brook and Another Storm run today. Another Storm goes to Plumpton and Everdon Brook to Kempton. They both should give a good account of themselves. Present Your Case, Handtheprizeover, Estrica and Phare Isle all have entries later in the week.
Monday 12th April
12thApr2010
Phare Isle ran a superb race on Easter Monday at Huntingdon to finish 2nd only beaten 1 1/4 lengths and the winner has since won again at Chepstow. He has an entry at Cheltenham on Wednesday. Dance Island ran a huge race to finish 2nd at Aintree in the 3 mile novice chase on Friday. It was a great occasion for our small stable and it looks like he is going to make up into a good staying chaser for next season. Although as usual the racing press find it very difficult to acknowledge that it is possible for a small stable to have a reasonable horse - we will continue to celebrate! A small race at the end of November will be his target!! Estrica ran a respectable race at Chepstow and may possibly run with a visor on next time.
Wednesday 31st March
31stMar2010
Another Storm ran another good race to finish 2nd at Market Rasen yesterday, although travelling very well and looking the likely winner 2 out, she was just unable to pick-up on the soft ground. She continues to give the Case Racing Partnership lots of fun and there is a small possiblity she will go to Cheltenham on the 15th April. Handtheprizeover was a little disappointing at Plumpton last week, the ground conditions were not ideal and he is still quite an immature horse, I am sure in time he will come right. Phare Isle has entries over Easter and is in good form. Dance Island, all being well, will go to Aintree on Friday 9th April which we are looking forward to, especially as it is ladies day!
Monday 22nd March
22ndMar2010
Thoresby ran a very encouraging race at Stratford in the bumper to finish 6th. He will have learnt a lot from the experience. Estrica ran at Fontwell yesterday and got a little stuck in the gluey ground. Hantheprizeover goes to Plumpton today and I think he has a good each-way chance.
Monday 15th March
15thMar2010
Thoresby makes his racecourse debut today at Stratford in the bumper. He has been working well at home and is fit and well and we hope he makes an encouraging start. Bill\'s Reflection ran at Chepstow on Saturday this was his first run over hurdles and was running a reasonable race until making a bad mistake half-way down the back and was unable to get back into the race after this. He will have learnt a lot from this experience. We wish Time For Rupert the best of luck at Cheltenham in the World Hurdle on Thursday, a horse I purchased as a foal and sent to the breeze-ups as a 3 year-old. Estrica has been entered to run at Fontwell on Sunday.
Friday 26th February
26thFeb2010
Another Storm ran a very good race yesterday at Huntingdon to finish 2nd under top weight, giving over a stone to the winner. The ground probably wasnt ideal for her but she continues to run well. Dance Island goes to Newcastle tomorrow if it is on and we look forward to him running another good race.
Monday 15th February
15thFeb2010
An excellent win from Dance Island on Saturday at Warwick with a fantastic round of jumping for his first run over fences which bodes well for the future. This was a fair novice chase and he beat some decent horses all with Cheltenham entries, hindsight is a great thing and perhaps we should have been entered too! Handtheprizeover was a little unlucky as he was nearly brought down when going well, he will now be eligible for a handicap mark. Shannons Firth ran a good race at Huntingdon on her second start and continues to improve. Phare Isle ran well at Kempton and it wont be long before he gets himself in the frame. Present Your Case unfortunately appears to be struggling again with her breathing, we will get this looked at and hopefully sorted as she is a lovely prospect. Bibiana Bay goes to Lingfield on Wednesday.
Wednesday 10th February
10thFeb2010
Shannons Firth runs at Huntingdon tomorrow and should run well in what looks quite a competitive mare\'s bumper. Phare Isle will run at Kempton on Friday, Handtheprizeover and Another Storm both have entries at Bangor on Friday and Dance Island has entries at Kempton, Warwick, Newbury and Plumpton. Present Your Case and Estrica have entries at Hereford on Sunday. Bibiana Bay has an entry at Lingfield on Saturday. Weather permitting - a busy weekend ahead!
Monday 1st February
01stFeb2010
Dance Island ran a good race under top weight at Chepstow on Friday to finish 4th. He will run over fences next. Present Your Case was in the process of running a good race first time over hurdles at Leicester before making a mistake at the last and unseating her jockey, she is none the worse and will run at Hereford in a couple of weeks time. Handtheprizeover again ran a good race and will definitely improve for the run as he had been held up in his work at home. I am delighted to have been given the chance to train Parlesotho, she had just lost her way a little bit and hopefully the change of scenery will do the trick, it appears that she would prefer top of the ground so she will be out later in the spring.
Sunday 24th January
24thJan2010
Phare Isle ran another good race at Fakenham to finish 6th. We will now wait and see what mark we are given by the handicapper. Estrica was a little disappointing having improved on both her previous starts. Dance Island ran well at Wincanton on Saturday to finish 5th, although 2 miles 6 was probably a little too sharp around this track for him. He will now go novice chasing. Handtheprizeover will run at Leicester on Tuesday and possibly Present Your Case.
Thursday 14th January
14thJan2010
Summer Affair runs at Wolverhampton on Friday night and has a good each-way chance. Estrica and Phare Isle may go to Fakenham on Monday if racing goes ahead. Dance Island and Handtheprizeover have entries at Kempton on Saturday, but will depend on the weather and ballot marks as to whether they run.
Sunday 3rd January
03rdJan2010
Shannons Firth made a respectable debut at Huntingdon on Boxing Day finishing 4th in the bumper, she will have learnt a lot from this and I look forward to running her again soon. Phare Isle ran well at Leicester and needs one more run for a handicap mark, he continues to progress in the right direction. Everdon Brook and Bill\'s Reflection both got a little stuck in the gluey ground at Warwick on New Years Eve. Bill\'s Reflection will now go hurdling and Everdon Brook will have a little break and will run again when the ground is more suitable. Summer Affair runs at Southwell on Tuesday and Bibiana Bay will go to Lingfield on Wednesday. The jumping runners are all subject to the weather! Great to see Quantitiveeasing win at Newbury the other day as I purchased his half-brother in November and is for sale, lets hope he can follow in his footsteps! Happy New Year
Monday 21st December
21stDec2009
Estrica, Bills\' Reflection and Shannons Firth all have entries on Boxing Day and will hopefully run, weather permitting! Estrica is in at Market Rasen and I look forward to her running a good race as she has continued to improve this year. Bill\'s Reflection will have one more run in a bumper before going hurdling and Shannons Firth will make her racecourse debut at Huntingdon, she is in good form and has been working well at home.
Monday 14th December
14thDec2009
Present Your Case ran another good race at Ludlow last week to finish 4th. She has now had four runs in bumpers and will go hurdling in the New Year. Estrica ran a good race as well and just faded after the last, she has improved a lot this year and looks sure to pick up a little race somewhere. Another Storm ran well up at Doncaster, but trainer error in running her back too soon and over a trip a little short, may have cost us a place. Summer Affair made a satisfactory start over hurdles at Hereford, jumping well, but finding the ground a little too soft.
Thursday 3rd December
03rdDec2009
Phare Isle made an encouraging start to his hurdling career finishing 8th in quite a decent notive hurdle at Southwell, he was best of the newcomers. Nothing to run this weekend. Present Your Case will hopefully go to Ludlow on Thursday 10th, she is in good form and should run well.
Thursday 26th November
26thNov2009
Everdon Brook made a very encouraging start at Ludlow on Monday to finish 5th first time out in the bumper. He travelled well for most of the race and just got a little tired inside the furlong pole, he will no doubt improve a lot from this experience and is one to follow. Dance Island was disappointing yesterday at Chepstow, he seemed to be in very good form at home and I was expecting a very big run from him. I had him scoped after the race and he has a throat infection which is easily treated and would explain his poor run. I am sure he will come back to form in the near future. Phare Isle is entered to run at Southwell on Tuesday 1st December.
Sunday 22nd November
22ndNov2009
The horses continue to be in good form and are all running well. Present Your Case ran a great race at Hereford in the bumper and was only beaten 1/2 a length to finish 3rd, she looks to have a bright future. Another Storm ran well at Ascot to finish 4th and has continued where she left off over 400 days ago and hopefully she can win a decent race this year. Summer Affair finished 4th at Wolverhampton last night, and again ran well, and although he was a little unlucky to be stuck behind a wall of horses coming off the home bend, he ran on well. Bill\'s Reflection made an encouraging start in the bumper at Towcester today to finish 6th. Everdon Brook makes his racecourse debut at Ludlow tomorrow in the bumper and Dance Island is due to run this week at either Chepstow or Newbury.
Wednesday 18th November
18thNov2009
Present Your Case runs at Hereford tomorrow in the bumper and she is in good form. Another Storm should go to Ascot on Saturday. Summer Affair goes to Wolverhampton on Saturday evening and Bill\'s Reflection will probably go to Towcester on Sunday. Everdon Brook will go to Ludlow on Monday. Phare Isle made a satisfactory start to his season at Uttoxeter and continues to progress. Estrica made a promising start to her season finishing 5th at Leicester on Monday and Edgfour finished her season with a good run at Folkestone yesterday, she has not been out of the money all year, and will now have a well deserved break.
Friday 13th November
13thNov2009
Phare Isle goes to Uttoxeter tomorrow and has a good each-way chance in the bumper. Summer Affair ran with credit to finish 3rd at Wolverhampton last friday and he could either run in a handicap on the flat or go over hurdles next. Just spent the week in Ireland at the Tattersalls foal sales and have bought 4 smashing colt foals, hopefully stars of the future for the national hunt game.
Thursday 5th November
05thNov2009
A great day yesterday at Chepstow where Dance Island won the feature race in great style. He looks to have improved considerably from last year and is a much stronger horse. Hopefully he can continue this form and I will look for a suitable race for him, probably towards the end of the month. Off to Wolverhampton tomorrow tonight with Summer Affair who I believe has a good each-way chance. Another Storm is nearing her return to the racetrack and should be ready to run at Uttoxeter on the 14th November.
Tuesday 3rd November
03rdNov2009
Handtheprizeover ran a very encouraging race at Huntingdon on Sunday first time over hurdles to finish 5th and will improve a lot for the run. Supreme Team also ran a better race at Plumpton yesterday to finish a creditable 5th, jumping really well. Dance Island goes to Chepstow tomorrow (Wednesday 4th) and is as fit as I can get him at home, but is a horse that usually needs a run to be fully tuned up. Summer Affair will run at Wolverhampton on Friday evening, and will then be given a handicap mark. Photos taken at our Open Day are now on the \'gallery\' so please take a look.
Monday 19th October
19thOct2009
Summer Affair is in good form and may possibly run at Kempton on Thursday. Ravine Rose will hopefully go to Ludlow on Thursday. Supreme Team, Edgefour, Handtheprizeover, are all in at Fakenham on Friday and Dance Island is in at Aintree on Saturday. A lot will depend upon the weather for the week ahead.
Monday 12th October
12thOct2009
Edgefour ran a cracking race at Worcester on Thursday to finish 2nd and continues her good form of earlier in the summer. Off to Windsor today with Bonnie Bea, looking for another promising run which will be her third run, she should be eligible for a handicap mark after this. We had an excellent turn-out for our Open Day yesterday and the horses showed themselves off exceptionally well in the indoor school. Looking forward to the coming weeks when the season gets going.
Monday 5th October
05thOct2009
Ravine Rose ran another good race at Fontwell on Saturday to finish 3rd. She continues to run well and hopefully is giving everyone in the syndicate lots of fun. Edgefour, Supreme Team and Bonnie Bea are all entered to run this week and seem to be in good form.
Thursday 1st October
01stOct2009
Summer Affair ran a very promising race first time on the flat at Kempton last night to finish 4th, we would almost certainly have been 3rd if we had not been badly hampered on the home bend. He has come out of the race well and may run again on the flat before the weather breaks. Edgefour and Ravine Rose have both come out of their races well, there is a small chance Ravine Rose may go to Fontwell on Saturday, and the same applies to Supreme Team at Huntingdon on Sunday.
Friday 26th September
25thSep2009
Ravine Rose ran a brave race yesterday to finish 4th. She has done very well considering she has quite a bad breathing problem which I plan to rectify over the winter. Edgefour had a good blow out at Kempton last night which should set her up nicely to run at Worcester on the 8th October. Summer Affair may go to Kempton next Wednesday as there appears to be no rain forecast.
Tuesday 22nd September
22ndSep2009
Bonnie Bea ran a good race on her seasonal debut at Wolverhampton to finish 4th. She needs one more run for a handicap mark and I hope she will continue to improve. Edgefour goes to Kempton on Thursday evening to run on the flat, a warm up race before she runs back over hurdles. We may also take this option with Summer Affair who may run at Kempton next week, unless the heavens open. Four new horses arrived in this morning and we look forward to training them. Glad to read in the Racing Post today that Paul Webber has high hopes for Time For Rupert, a horse he purchased at the breeze up sales that had been prepared by us. I have two more smashing horses for this years Cheltenham Breeze Up.
Monday 14th September
14thSep2009
Bonnie Bea will go to Wolverhampton on Thursday 17th September for her second run. She has been improving all the time and we hope for a respectable run. Summer Affair is ready to run but will require some rain and Edgefour may have one run on the flat, but the main aim is to run at Worcester on the 8th October. The youngsters that have been broken-in at Tom Lacey's are doing well and will arrive back here next week.
Thursday 3rd September
03rdSep2009
Ravine Rose ran another good race yesterday to finish 5th at Hereford and although she is of limited ability she has a big heart and could do ok next summer when she will be a little stronger. Supreme Team ran a respectable race at Huntingdon on ground a little quick for him and he will go novice chasing next. Our annual Owners Open Day is on Sunday 11th October which we are looking forward to. Anyone interested in attending please contact me for further information.
Sunday 30th August
30thAug2009
Supreme Team runs at Huntingdon tomorrow, after being a little unlucky at Newton Abbot last week when slipping up on the bend, we hope for a better run and he has an each-way chance. Ravine Rose is likely to run at Hereford on Wednesday 2nd September, and has come out of her Stratford race well. Bonnie Bea and Summer Affair continue to work well and are getting closer to running. Edgefour is back in full work after her mini-break and should be ready to run in a few weeks time.
Sunday 23rd August
23rdAug2009
Ravine Rose ran a much better race at Stratford to pick up a little bit of prize money finishing 5th. She will run again at Hereford on the 2nd September. A very long day at Newton Abbot yesterday where Supreme Team followed a few others and slipped up on the bend. Horse and jockey are both ok and he may run again at Huntingdon on the 31st August. Watch The Master runs at Southwell on Tuesday.
Monday 17th August
17thAug2009
There is a small chance that Ravine Rose could run again at Stratford on Thursday 20th August and Supreme Team goes to Newton Abbot on Saturday 22nd August. Summer Affair and Bonnie Bea are both getting closer to running and have been working well of late.
Thursday 13th August
13thAug2009
Ravine Rose runs tonight at Stratford having her first run over hurdles, if she stays the trip she would have a little each-way chance. Watch The Master is a possible for Lingfield on Saturday and Supreme Team will go to Newton Abbot on Saturday 22nd August. Most of the winter horses are back in and have all done well for their summer break and we have lots to look forward to.
Tuesday 4th August
04thAug2009
Ravine Rose should go to Stratford next Thursday to have her first run over hurdles and Watch The Master should run at Chepstow also on Thursday as long as the ground is not too soft. Supreme Team may possibly run at Southwell next weekend. Thats An Honour sustained a very nasty cut on his hind leg at Bangor on Friday evening and is still being looked after by the vets in Cheshire. We hope he will return here on Friday.
Friday 31st July
31stJul2009
That's An Honour runs at Bangor today, he has a good each-way chance but will need to jump better than he has done of late. Supreme Team ran another good race at Uttoxeter to finish 5th carrying a lot of weight, I am sure there is a race to be won with him. Watch The Master has come out of his race well and should be ready to run in a handicap in a week/10 days time.
Monday 27th July
27thJul2009
Supreme Team goes to Uttoxeter this evening and has an each-way chance. Watch The Master, although beaten quite a long way in a hot Newmarket maiden, ran well for a long way before getting tired, he will improve a lot for the run. Handtheprizeover, Estrica, Present Your Case and Shannons Firth are all due back in this week.
Thursday 16th July
16thJul2009
Edgefour ran another great race to finish 3rd in a competetive handicap hurdle at Worcester, she has not been out of the money on all her starts this season. She will now have a short break and return to full training with an autumn campaign in mind. Thats An Honour was a little disappointing at Southwell and continues to frustrate as he has plenty of ability. Watch The Master is due to run at Windsor on Monday evening and also Ravine Rose. Lots going on with the youngsters being broken-in and horses due to come back from their summer holiday in the next week or so.
Monday 6th July
06thJul2009
Edgefour is likely to run at Worcester on Wednesday 8th July, she is in very good form. That's An Honour was again a little unlucky in his last race at Worcester when making a bad mistake 5 from home and was unable to get back into the race after this, he still managed to finish 5th. He is in to run at Southwell on Sunday.
Monday 22nd June
22ndJun2009
Thats An Honour will run at Worcester on Wednesday. He is in good form and should run well. Edgefour ran another good race at Hereford on Sunday to finish 5th, although I am sure she would have finished in the first three but for pulling both her front shoes off and coming back with a punctured sole. She was quite lame afterwards but luckily seems to be not too bad this morning. Leanonleo is obvioulsy not a racehorse and does not want to be! I will find a new home for him.
Monday 15th June
15thJun2009
Leanonleo is entered to run at Worcester on Wednesday 17th June and Edgefour has been entered to run at Hereford on Sunday 21st June. That's An Honour schooled well last week and will be aimed to run at Market Rasen on the 26th June. Please have a look at Edgefour winning at Uttoxeter on the 'gallery'.
Saturday 6th June
06thJun2009
Have been away for a week on a family holiday so a little late with updating our weekly news. That's An Honour an unlucky loser at Towcester last Friday, falling at the last on his chase debut when 8 lengths clear! Supreme Team and Leanonleo go to Worcester today. Supreme Team has an each-way chance.
WINNER
25thMay2009
Edgefour won again yesterday at Uttoxeter, staying on gamely after the last to win in determined fashion. She really has improved this year. She will have a short break now and hopefully will be ready to run again in the middle of June. Dance Island, Supreme Team and Thats An Honour are all entered to run at Southwell on Wednesday, we will wait to see what the weather brings before I make a decision. Thats An Honour is also in at Towcester on Friday.
Monday 18th May
18thMay2009
Weekend runners ran very well. Dance Island ran a good race to finish 3rd at Aintree and we may give him one more run if the weather stays in his favour. The two bumper horses, Present Your Case and Handtheprizeover both ran races full of promise to finish 6th in their respective races. They will both now have a summer break. Edgefour could possibly run at Stratford or Uttoxeter at the weekend. That's An Honour and Supreme Team both schooled well over fences this morning and they should be ready to run next week.
Tuesday 12th May
12thMay2009
Supreme Team was a shade dissappointing at Plumpton on Sunday but fear the ground was just a bit too quick for him. There is a small possibility that he may run again this Sunday at either Fakenham or Market Rasen, also entries for this week are Edgefour and Dance Island at Aintree, Present Your Case at Uttoxeter, Bangor, or Market Rasen, Handtheprizeover at Uttoxeter and Thats An Honour at Fakenham.
Saturday 9th May
09thMay2009
Having been forced to run Edgefour back after being put up 15lbs by the handicapper for her win at Southwell, she ran another good race at Fakenham to finish 2nd and bar a last flight blunder may just have held on! Supreme Team goes to Plumpton with a good chance on Sunday, as does Present Your Case in the bumper at Uttoxeter.
A WINNER
30thApr2009
We are all delighted with Edgefours win at Southwell yesterday. She has obviously improved from her break and does look a much stronger individual this year. It is great to start the new season off with a winner and may the next one not be too far away! Estrica goes to Hereford today with an each-way chance in the 2.20.
Monday 27th April
27thApr2009
Leaonleo ran in a strong 4 year-old hurdle race at Ludlow yesterday and we did not expect any more than a nice run round. He jumped well and a further step up in trip and two more runs more likely to be in national hunt maiden hurdles will see him improve. Siryena was a little disappointing at Brighton yesterday, although excuses were a falsly run race and the ground a little too quick. She is in foal to Piccolo and will now be retired to the paddocks. That's An Honour did not jump well at Market Rasen on Saturday and continues to run very in and out races. He seems to be fine after his run and we will make a plan for him in the next few days. Runners this week will be Edgefour at Southwell on Wednesday and she should run well and Estrica at Hereford on Thursday, she continues to improve.
Friday 24th April
24thApr2009
Supreme Team ran an excellent race at Southwell finishing 3rd after 164 days off the track, it should not be long before he is in the winners enclosure! That's An Honour goes to Market Rasen on Saturday and should run well. Leanonleo has his first run over hurdles at Ludlow on Sunday and Siryena returns to Brighton on Sunday, the scene of her win in August.
Monday 20th April
20thApr2009
Present Your Case ran a very good race at Cheltenham on Thursday to finish 2nd first time out in the mare's bumper. She has come out of the race well, although I am very tempted to run her in the Bewleys bumper at Punchestown, we have decided not to take on the Irish just yet! Edgefour is declared to run at Towcester tomorrow evening, she is in good form and has done well physically during her winter break. Supreme Team is likely to run at Southwell on Wednesday and Leanonleo is likely to go to Chepstow on Friday.
Tuesday 14th April
14thApr2009
Dance Island has been declared to run at Cheltenham tomorrow but will only run if the forecast rain arrives and Present Your Case is entered to run in the mares bumper on Thursday. That's An Honour was running a good race at Newton Abbot when being almost knocked over at the third last and unseating his jockey, I am sure he would have been in the first 3! Estrica ran a better race at Towcester and jumped very well, she now qualifies for a handicap mark and I am sure she will continue to improve. Deep Reflection ran a respectable race at Chepstow yesterday but found the ground had just gone a little too quick for him, anyone looking for a lovely hunter/point-to-pointer this is the horse you want - he is now for sale.
Wednesday 8th April
08thApr2009
That's An Honour will probably run at Newton Abbot on Saturday 11th April, he is in good form and should run well. Deep Reflection, Estrica, Siryena and Present Your Case are entered to run on Sunday and Monday and we are looking forward to having some luck over the Easter Bank Holiday! Delighted to see Time For Rupert winning at Aintree as he was a horse I prepared for the Cheltenham Breeze-ups.
Monday 30th March
30thMar2009
That's An Honour ran a better race at Towcester on Wednesday considering he didnt get the best of runs. He seems to be coming back to himself and will be one to watch next time. Dance Island was running a very good race at Towcester on Thursday before taking a heavy fall two from home. He is improving all the time. Estrica had her first run back since a breathing operation at Uttoxeter on Saturday and had a reasonable run, she will improve a lot for the race. Only one possible runner this week, Present Your Case, at Market Rasen on Sunday in the bumper.

Leanonleo ran another solid race yesterday at Huntingdon to finish 4th in the bumper. He may possibly have run better if he had had a little bit more daylight as Sam Jones said he was still very green amongst horses and once he was in the clear he finished strongly. He is currently for sale and will make a good fun horse for the future. Siryena was covered by Piccolo last night and hopefully she will be in foal. That's An Honour and Dance Island should run at Towcester this week and Estrica will run at the weekend.

Deep Reflection ran at Fakenham on Friday 13th March finishing 3rd. Silver Sonnet ran at Southwell yesterday and although she ran better than last Sunday at Warwick she still wanted to hang left, nothing has come to light at the moment and she has come out of the race fine. Leanonleo may run in a bumper at Stratford or Huntingdon at the weekend and Summer Affair is entered in a novice hurdle at Stratford on Saturday.

Dance Island ran very well on his first run in a handicap to finish 2nd at Warwick on Sunday lets hope he can go one better next time. He will probably have 1 or 2 more runs this season before going over fences next season. Gild The Lillie ran ok the experience will have done her good and she will have one run over hurdles towards the end of the month/beginning of April. Silver Sonnet was pulled-up after Andrew Thornton felt that had knocked herself but thankfully she is perfectly ok and has been entered to run at Southwell on Sunday 15th March. Deep Reflection should go to Fakenham on Friday 13th March.

I was delighted with Leanonleo and Phare Isle's debut runs. Leanonleo ran a very promising 3rd at Huntingdon and Phare Isle ran a nice race at Stratford, although running a little green, he did well to finish mid-division. That's An Honour was very disappointing at Doncaster and I don't appear to have any excuses other than he may have lost his confidence jumping. We will give him a little break and plenty of schooling. Gobejolly goes to Lingfield tomorrow and should have a good each-way chance.

I hope to run That's An Honour at Doncaster on Saturday. He is in good form and I look forward to running him on some better ground. Leanonleo will make his racecourse debut at Huntingdon on Sunday in the bumper. Phare Isle will also make his racecourse debut at Stratford on Monday if he does not get balloted out. Gild The Lillie and Silver Sonnet may both run at Warwick a week on Saturday.

Gobejolly ran well at Market Rasen to finish 4th and she should be able to pick up a little race in this grade. Siryena ran ok at Wolverhampton in what was a competitive claimer. We will now put her in foal to Piccalo and she will have a couple of runs after that.
I was pleased to see Valley of the Dolls win at Southwell as she is a half-sister to a Yearling by Westerner that we have here for sale. Time for Rupert runs today at Huntingdon, the horse that we sold at the Breeze-up sales.

Gobejolly runs at Market Rasen on Monday and should have an each-way chance. Siryena will go to Wolverhampton on Tuesday.
That's An Honour ran at Sandown on Friday and would have run a respectable race but his jumping let him down. He has come out of the race fine and we will work on his jumping and I am sure he is more than capable of winning races when the ground improves.
Deep Reflection and Gild The Lillie ran on Saturday both finishing 5th. Gild The Lillie ran an encouraging race on her debut and will improve a lot for the run. Deep Reflection ran a little flat but ran on well to finish 5th and has picked up some prize money.

Siryena was a little disappointing today at Kempton but she has to have things go her own way!
I am waiting on the weather to make declarations for That's An Honour, Deep Reflection and Gild The Lillie for Friday.
I was able to get away on Friday to Ireland to the Tattersalls February sale and have purchased two lovely yearling colts for re-sale. A Flemensfirth and a Robin des Champs both with good pedigrees. We also have some top quality national hunt youngstock for sale that will appear on the website soon.
